Aurora was launched in September 2006 with just five singing members. Its formal creation by Dawn Kelly (founder and Operational Director) was motivated through a love of harmony singing.

At Aurora, we sing close unaccompanied harmony, a style known as A Cappella. Our repertoire is varied and includes swing, blues, gospel, modern, barbershop and more…..

We are extremely lucky to have as our Musical Director, Nigel, who is also our voice coach. We currently have over 40 members and we have performed at a wide range of functions and venues, including weddings, festivals and annual events.

Aurora is a warm, friendly group of women who all love to sing. Our members have mixed singing abilities and our ages range from 7 to over 70 years. Some members have sung for many years in different choirs, whilst others have only ever sung in the bathroom.

Previous experience is not necessary and there is no need to read music. We use specially prepared teacher CDs, so songs can be learnt by ear - these can be downloaded from our members' page (password required). The only pre-requisite is a love of - or a desire to - sing!
